Review: Etude House Tear Drop Powder in #2 Crystal Gold Tear

This is the seconEtudeHouseTearDropGlitterPackagingd eye glitter that I own and it’s in a lovely pale yellow gold shade. After trying the one from Too Cool For School (Review), I knew that I wanted to try some other shades! Korean eye glitters are more subtle in comparison to ones in the Western market so they can be used for an everyday neutral makeup look but at the same time, they can be buildable and layered for night outs too.

Considering that it is from Etude House, it comes to no surprise that the packaging is so adorable! Like the one from TCFS, it has a small opening for you to take product out and this stops you from making an absolute mess. I find that it is best applied with either a pencil brush for a nicely blended out application or a Q-tip/cotton bud to pack on the glitter. There is no way that a larger brush can fit and using your finger could turn out a mess! =P

The glitter is very finely milled but the payoff is phenomenal. You really do not need to spend a lot of time layering it on. It makes your eyes sparkle so beautifully in the sunlight!

EtudeHouseTearDropGlitterApplication

I think this glitter, like any other glitter, is great for adding glam to a makeup look. There is nothing to say other than that it is absolutely beautiful and if you have an opportunity to pick this up, definitely go for it! =)

Review: Etude House Look At My Eyes Cafe in Cafe Latte & Caramel Latte

Etude House has a huge range of colours in their single eyeshadow collection so I had the toughest time picking out colours that I wanted to try. At the time, I was in need of some matte transition shades for crease work so I picked up two different browns and restricted myself from buying too many! But there are many other colours and finishes to choose from, plus they are so affordable so you definitely won’t feel guilty about picking up a few more than usual!

EtudeHouseSingleEyeshadowPackaging

I think the packaging of these eyeshadows is super adorable! The eyeshadows themselves have a tiled heart pattern imprinted into them and they are in basic plastic containers so they are easy to store and you can see exactly what the colour is. I’m not entirely sure if they can be de-potted because I haven’t tried to before but I assume they can be! Cafe Latte is a more cooler toned brown whereas Caramel Latte is warmer. I feel either of them work perfect for subtle definition in the crease or as a transition shade.

EtudeHouseSingleEyeshadowHandSwatch

Left: Light swatch; Middle: Three layers; Right: Smudge test

The eyeshadows feel very buttery and soft but are not overly powdery. I have no issues with fallout when I apply them and they last all day on me with no creasing. As you can see with the smudge test, the eyeshadows just sheer out a little but they do not smudge or merge together in the slightest.

Wearing Caramel Latte as a single eyeshadow look

The pigmentation of these eyeshadows are not too bad. If you want them to show up more bold then multiple layers are required! For days when I’m wearing simple eyeliner and I need a little something in the crease then a light application will suffice. Otherwise, I enjoy using this as a one eyeshadow look for natural school makeup days. It makes getting ready a lot quicker!

I think that these eyeshadows make great additions to a beginner’s makeup kit because they are so affordable and there are so many shades to choose from! If you’re on a budget then these will be great for you! If you already have an extensive range of eyeshadows then these aren’t a must-have.

Review: Etude House Dear My Blooming Eyes in PP501 Swaying Heart Purple

EtudeHouseEyeshadowPackaging

We all know that Etude House has one of the prettiest and cutest packaging in the Korean cosmetics market and this eyeshadow palette is no exception! Etude House never fails with its pink, princess-like packaging!

In this collection of eyeshadow quads, there is a decent sized mirror (so handy!) and two applicator wands. Surprisingly, I actually don’t mind the applicators since one of them has a pointier foam head so it makes it easy to be precise on the lower lashline! =) Sometimes when I’m in a rush and I don’t want to take out and use separate brushes, I am more than happy to just use the given applicators because they do a fine job!

The pigmentation of these eyeshadows are fantastic! They give great colour payoff and it shows up just as great on the eyes. I absolutely love every colour in this quad. It comes with a light muted purple, a deep brown, a dark purple and a more medium brown shade. In this specific palette, all of the shades are quite shimmery but I know that there are others that have some matte shades inside. I personally do not mind using all shimmers on my eyes as long as I skip out on a brow highlight and the rest of my face is kept fairly neutral! =) I love the mix of lighter and darker shades, meaning that it can easily transition from daytime to nighttime.

EtudeHouseEyeshadowSwatch

If I had to be very specific and pinpoint a minor flaw, it would be that the shadows can be a bit powdery. They feel very creamy and soft so naturally they will powder up a little when you dip your brush into them. So if you’re not careful then there can be some fall out but I don’t have any major issues with this at all.

EtudeHouseEyeshadowApplication

Applied the light purple all over the lids, then the lighter brown in the crease as a transition shade and lightly deepened up the outer corners and the crease with the darker brown. Used the dark purple on the lower lash line! =) Skipped mascara and eyeliner for the pictures so you can see the colours more clearly!

Overall, I would recommend this palette if you enjoy shimmery eyeshadows because there are no matte shades in this specific one! =) I think every colour is really stunning on the eyes!

Review: Etude House Lovely Cookie Blusher in #11 Peach Choux Wafers

As promised, this is the review on Etude House’s ever so popular Lovely Cookie Blushers! The particular shade I’m reviewing is #11 Peach Choux Wafers, which is undeniably a matte light peachy pink shade! It is one of the newer shades that came out after the original collection was released.

EtudeHouseCookieBlushPackaging

The packaging is one of my favourite things about this blush. It is so cute! The powder puff with the bow is the cutest ever. Even though I like to use my own makeup brushes, I will always keep the puff inside just because it is so adorable. The shade names are also all named after sweets, which is again, super adorable. I’m just in love with the concept of this collection. =)

EtudeHouseBlushHandSwatch

Unfortunately, the pigmentation of this blush is not that great. In the swatches above, I had to dip my finger in the product so many times for it to show up. I have read that the blush shades are hit or miss so I assume that I picked up one of the shades that don’t perform as well. I will still use it for days where I want something very subtle on the cheeks such as on no makeup-makeup days or when the rest of my makeup is a bit on the heavy side. I really have to dip my brush multiple times and apply several layers for it to show up decently on the skin.

EtudeHouseBlushApplication

The blush definitely shows up on the skin better than it swatches but it is still a really sheer blush. It’s a really natural shade that gives a very subtle flush of colour. I’m assuming that since heavy and bright blushes aren’t as popular in Korea, this shade in particular is one that suits the subtle blush trend. As I said, I will still use it but I would not recommend this shade in particular. I would definitely still love to try other shades in the collection because I have high hopes that the entire collection can’t all have the same pigmentation!

♡ FOTD: Neutral Soft Smokey Eyes (Plus Mini Reviews!)

Hello everyone, hope you all have been doing well! =)

I’m doing a FOTD post because I felt like posting something different. I went for a more casual, natural look today using the Too Faced Chocolate Bar palette as the main focus!

♡ Etude House Lovely Cookie Blusher in #13 Peach Choux Wafers

I have been running low on my Rimmel Lasting Finish Foundation in 200 Soft Beige so I have been scraping out the remains and mixing it in with my Mizon Snail Repair BB Cream! Surprisingly, I have been really enjoying the combination and with a very light layer, it really helps even out my skin tone! It’s also a better match for my skin because the Rimmel foundation by itself is a tad too dark and can look a little orange when it oxidises throughout the day. I found that by mixing the two, the finish is a lot more natural because it tones down the full coverage matte finish of the Rimmel foundation and makes it look more dewy and fresh.

Hourglass’ Ambient Lighting Powders are phenomenal. Diffused Light is a pale yellow shade that I use almost everyday on top of my foundation as a setting powder to make my skin look more polished and smooth. I highlight suggest you look into them more and find one that will suit your personal needs if you’re searching for new high-end powders. =)

Too Faced Candlelight Highlighter is amazing for a subtle golden glow. I have converted into a highlighter fanatic because of it! I would suggest it for people who have warm undertones because of its golden tone.

➳ I will do a full review on the Etude House Lovely Cookie Blusher hopefully sometime next week! =)

The Too Faced Chocolate Bar Palette was my everyday choice for eyeshadow when I purchased it last year and I’m still really loving it. It is a great neutral and versatile palette that has a wide range of eyeshadows. They are great quality and you can create so many looks with it. For today’s look I applied:

♡ “Salted Caramel” in the crease using a fluffy blending brush
♡ “Amaretto” all over the lids and “Marzipan” on top to add extra shimmer using a standard eye makeup brush
♡ “Semi-sweet” in the outer corners and lower lash line using a pencil brush

The Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner is a cult favourite for many people. It lasts all day and is very pigmented. I have had mine for around 3 years (I don’t know if that’s alright or not o_o) and it’s still going strong. It has not dried up in the slightest and still works as great as it did when I first got it! Sepia Ink is a deep brown colour that is a great alternative to black because it is less harsh and a little more natural looking. Highly recommend!

The Tony Moly gloss bars are so cute! The packaging is shaped like a bunny and each one has a different face on it. However, they require frequent reapplication because they wear off quite fast and do not leave a stain at all. They are advertised as being gloss bars though so I honestly did not have high expectations in terms of its lasting power. The shade I used was #5 Juicy Peach, which is a light warm-toned pinky peach shade. I would only recommend this for people who just adore cute makeup and like collecting it, otherwise I would say you can skip out on them!
