Review: Majolica Majorca Honey Plump Neo Gloss in RS456

Today’s review is on another Japanese cosmetic product, Majolica Majorca’s Plump Neo Gloss in RS456! This lipgloss does not get talked about much. In fact, I’ve only heard of Majolica Majorca for their fantastic mascaras! While researching the facts about this lipgloss, I discovered that it won the 2012 Yahoo! Beauty Best Cosmetics Award in the lipstick and lipgloss department! That’s really something major!

MajolicaMajorcaLipglossPackaging

The tube itself is really small so it’s great to carry around in your purse on-the-go! =) There is nothing to complain about in terms of its packaging because it’s just a regular squeeze tube!

MajolicaMajorcaLipglossSwatch

Left: Squeeze tube packaging; Right: Sheer application of the lipgloss

The gloss itself feels really moisturising and lightweight! As you can see, over bare lips it’s quite sheer but it adds so much gloss and shininess. It applies really easily and just glides over your lips and makes them look really juicy and pouty. This particular shade looks really natural, it sort of just naturally enhances the lip colour and has a slight plumping effect. In my opinion, it’s a little bit on the sticky side because when you smack your lips together, there is some very slight tackiness and your hair can get stuck into it but it’s not messy. However, stickier lip glosses mean longer lasting power so it is something I don’t mind dealing with! =) I find that it has decent wear time, but only without eating! It doesn’t really come off unless I eat something and I need to wipe my lips.

Overall, it is an alright lipgloss! I’m generally not a lipgloss girl in general so I probably will not repurchase but I find that this is nice if I want to add some glossiness to my lips! It makes them look naturally plump and shiny without being extremely sticky. However, since it is a little difficult to find and purchase, I wouldn’t recommend you go through all the trouble to try and find it! >< But if you’re lucky enough to visit or live in Japan, then I say why not? It’s only about 480 yen, which is around $5! =)

Tutorial: Heatless Hair Waves

HeatlessWavesHeader

Welcome to my very first tutorial ever! =) I have to give credit to Carly Cristman from YouTube for introducing this technique to me a few years ago but I really love it and I wanted to share it with you all. This is a great way to style your hair the night before without using any heat and sleeping will provide a long enough time for curls to form in your hair!

What you will need:

♡ A thin cotton hairband

…And that’s it! It’s so simple!

Divider (31)Divider (31)

① Start with washed and completely dried hair. I’ve found that it doesn’t work well on second day hair because the hair does not hold well in the hairband. If your hair is damp, the waves become uneven and they will lose their shape as soon as you brush through them in the morning!

② Place the hairband over your head so that it goes over your forehead and stops at about halfway down the back of your head

HeatlessWaves-1

③ Starting from one section of your hair, grab a section of hair (how much will depend on how tight you want your waves/curls to be!) and pull it over then underneath through the hairband. You do not have to be neat with this at all because if you’re sleeping in the hairstyle, there’s no point trying to make it neat and perfect!

HeatlessWaves-2

➳ Tip: If you have side swept bangs (and you start on that side), make that specific section a little thicker than the rest so that it’s more flattering!

④ Continue grabbing equal sections of hair, adding to the previous section and pulling it underneath the hairband, making sure that each section is tight and secure so they won’t fall apart!

HeatlessWaves-3

⑤ Once you have used half of your hair, begin the same technique on the other side of your head. I like to pull the ends of the completed side into my mouth to hold it in place while I work on the other side! =P

HeatlessWaves-4

My bangs are on this side so I made the section slightly thicker!

⑥ When there are only loose ends left, twirl them into the hairband tightly to secure the entire hairdo in place

HeatlessWaves-5

Go to sleep! =) Depending on your hair texture and type, the time needed for the curls to form will vary but I think that leaving it overnight will be perfect for everyone!

Style accordingly to your preference! If the curls turn out a little tighter than you would like, lightly brush through them. If you want them to hold their shape, use hairspray! It’s your hair so you can choose to do whatever you want with it hehehe.

HeatlessWaves-6

Day 1 versus Day 2: I actually prefer the curls the day after because they loosen up a little! The curls stay in place until the next time you wash it! =)

➳ Tip: Don’t even take your hair out! This is a great simpler alternative to do a Milkman’s braid if you choose to use a more suitable hairband!

I hope you enjoyed my first tutorial! I’m planning on doing more of these posts in the coming months! ♡

My Top 5 Favourite Beauty YouTubers ♡

MyTop5FavouriteYouTubers

I have YouTube to thank for introducing me to makeup back in 2008! I remember just being so fascinated by how complicated it all seemed and all the steps the major beauty gurus took to create a full face makeup look. I never actually started to experiment with makeup on myself until 2010 but I still watched videos religiously just because I thought makeup was so magical and beautiful!

I’ve narrowed my list down to 5, I believe all of these YouTubers are truly so talented and gifted at what they do! =) I could totally watch them all day!

I love how her uploads cover both the natural and wearable looks as well as the more fun, dramatic and non-wearable makeup looks. She is so incredibly talented and I think she is the queen of brows and winged eyeliner. She nails both every single time! She is also just such a fun and entertaining person to watch.

Review: Etude House Tear Drop Powder in #2 Crystal Gold Tear

This is the seconEtudeHouseTearDropGlitterPackagingd eye glitter that I own and it’s in a lovely pale yellow gold shade. After trying the one from Too Cool For School (Review), I knew that I wanted to try some other shades! Korean eye glitters are more subtle in comparison to ones in the Western market so they can be used for an everyday neutral makeup look but at the same time, they can be buildable and layered for night outs too.

Considering that it is from Etude House, it comes to no surprise that the packaging is so adorable! Like the one from TCFS, it has a small opening for you to take product out and this stops you from making an absolute mess. I find that it is best applied with either a pencil brush for a nicely blended out application or a Q-tip/cotton bud to pack on the glitter. There is no way that a larger brush can fit and using your finger could turn out a mess! =P

EtudeHouseTearDropGlitterHandSwatch

The glitter is very finely milled but the payoff is phenomenal. You really do not need to spend a lot of time layering it on. It makes your eyes sparkle so beautifully in the sunlight!

EtudeHouseTearDropGlitterApplication

I think this glitter, like any other glitter, is great for adding glam to a makeup look. There is nothing to say other than that it is absolutely beautiful and if you have an opportunity to pick this up, definitely go for it! =)

Seven Deadly Sins of Makeup Tag

SevenDeadlySinsofMakeup

1. Greed: What’s your most inexpensive beauty item? What’s your most expensive beauty item?

My most inexpensive beauty item would probably be my Daiso makeup. Everything in the store is $2.80 and I have several eyeshadow palettes from there. But since my collection has expanded a lot since I purchased them, I don’t ever use them anymore! For most expensive, it’d be my Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder. Living in Australia, makeup is already expensive as is so you can assume that higher end products are even more ridiculous in price! Thankfully, this is a powder that I use everyday but it still has not dented in the slightest so I know it’s great value for money. I paid $59 for it! x_x At least it’s an amazing product! If we’re including tools then it would definitely have to be my Clarisonic Mia 2, it’s a huge investment and considering that the brush heads need replacements once in awhile, it adds up! It’s still one of the best beauty items I have ever purchased though! =)

2. Wrath: What item do you have a love/hate relationship with?

Definitely false eyelashes. I love how they look but I hate applying them (they can get really messy) and I always get worried that they might start to peel off to the point where people will start to look at me funny. =(

3. Gluttony: What brand takes up most of your collection?

I’ll have to go with Too Faced. They have amazing products and I’ve never had any bad experiences with them. The packaging is also just so adorable!

4. Sloth: What product do you neglect the most due to laziness?

Primer! I know that they make a big difference in how your makeup applies and looks but I’m just not bothered to use them, especially face primers.

5. Pride: What product gives you the most confidence?

Definitely BB cream or foundation. I’ve already mentioned that my skin is my biggest insecurity so if I can get it to look nice and even then I’ll be a lot more confident in myself! =) I’m definitely going to look into skin treatments so that I can be a lot more comfortable in my own skin and not feel bad about going into public with absolutely no makeup on.

6. Lust: Which item is at the top of your beauty wishlist?

There are so many things I want to try because of all the blog posts I’ve read and it’s hard to keep track too LOL! Right now I really want to pick up some Bobbi Brown products and I’ve always wanted the Bite Deconstructed Rose Lip Gloss Library but I know that it was limited edition so it’s a bit pricey to purchase now (honestly I just think it looks super pretty hehehe). I would also absolutely love to try the GlamGlow masks and more YSL lip products! (Sorry that was way more than one and I have so many more ><).

7. Envy: Which makeup product looks great on other but not on you?

Nude/pale lips. I’m sure that I just need to find the right shade but I’ve never owned or tried a nude lipstick that I’ve enjoyed. I always feel that I need at least a little bit of colour on my lips so I always go for more natural pinks on a daily basis. Even when I wear heavier eye makeup, I still feel that I look better with a my lips but better shade as opposed to nude.

Overview: Revlon Lip Butter Collection

RevlonLipButterCollection

I remember when Revlon Lip Butters were the most highly raved about lip products back in 2011/2012 and I always wanted to try them. I’m sure every fellow Australian knows that drugstore makeup is insanely priced here and they were being sold for around $22 each! So when they were being sold on special for $10 a piece, I knew it was the perfect opportunity for me to jump onto the bandwagon. I currently don’t have a very large collection but I’m on the hunt for more colours to enlarge it!

My current collection consists of:

P e a c h  P a r f a i t

RevlonPeachParfait

⟪ Medium peachy nude with gold glitters ⟫

T u t t i  F r u t t i

RevlonTuttiFrutti

⟪ Bright warm orange ⟫

S o r b e t

RevlonSorbet

⟪ Vibrant fuchsia pink ⟫

B e r r y  S m o o t h i e

RevlonBerrySmoothie

⟪ Muted, mature berry ⟫

All the lip butters are very smooth and glide on easily across the lips. They have a vanilla scent to them, which I absolutely adore. I like to wear them when my lips are feeling a bit dry because they are quite moisturising but add a great punch of colour on the lips at the same time! =)

Do you own any Revlon Lip Butters?
What shades do you recommend I should pick up next?
I would love to hear your suggestions!

♡ FOTD: Inspired by Bree!

Bree is a very beautiful, kind and inspiring woman whose makeup always leaves me so speechless! I love how effortless she makes her makeup look and I was so inspired to do my own twist on one of her looks you can see here. Originally I was planning on using my Naked 3 Palette to duplicate the shades she used but I’ve already been using it so often (and I thought it would be boring to post about the same palette again =P), so I decided to use my Too Faced Boudoir Eyes Palette and do an inspired look instead! =) The focus of the look is a softer smokey eye with more natural pink lips!

Disclaimer: This is an inspired look. It’s not exactly the same but I made use of what I had in my collection!

FOTD4Full

Products used:

♡ Missha M Perfect Cover BB Cream (Review)
♡ NARS Laguna Bronzer
♡ NARS Deep Throat & Sex Fantasy Blush (Mixed together from the Virtual Domination Palette)
♡ L’Oreal Paris BrowArtist Plumper
♡ Too Faced Boudoir Eyes Palette
♡ L’Oreal Paris Mega Volume Miss Manga Mascara
♡ Giorgio Armani Rouge Sheer in 502
♡ CandyDoll Lipgloss in Macaron Pink

⟣ F a c e

Nothing needs to be said about my base, I’ve talked about it way too much already! =P For the blush, I decided to mix the two shades together because Bree had on a beautiful medium pink blush. Deep Throat is more of a medium coral-pink so I mixed a bit of Sex Fantasy, a more light cool-toned pink to lighten the shade as well as bring out its pinker tones.

E y e s ⟢

FOTD4Eyes

For the look I used:

♡ “In The Buff” mixed with “Fuzzy Handcuffs” all over the lids using a large shader brush
♡ “Satin Sheets” over the inner 1/3 of the eyelids using the same shader brush
♡ “Sugar Walls” in the crease using a fluffy crease brush
♡ “Voulez-Vous” mixed with “Garter Belt” in the outer corners and lower lash line using a pencil brush

I did not end up using all matte shades for this look like Bree did but I created a similar soft smokey look with a paler colour all over the lids and a darker shade in the outer corner and under the lashline for more definition. Also, there’s no eyeliner in this look! This is such a big change for me! =O

For my eyebrows, I’ve been using a new eyebrow mascara which I plan to doing a full review on! At the moment, I can say that I quite like it! It’s easy to use and I don’t feel the need to fill in my brows when I use it because it has fibres in its formula that add the perfect amount of fullness to my brows where I need it. I will be reviewing the mascara also so be on the lookout!

⟣ L i p s

I couldn’t find a pink shade similar to Bree’s so I decided to do my own take on a natural pink! Giorgio Armani Rouge Sheer in 502 is a medium cool-toned pink moisturising lipstick that I thought was a tad too dark so I added the CandyDoll lipgloss over the top to lighten it and add some shine! =)

Review: Banila Co. Style Eyeliner Pencil in Black

I remember coming across this eyeliner when I watched Bubzbeauty’s video showing how to do a complete smokey eye with this one eyeliner! It looked really creamy and so easy to blend. I knew it was something I had to pick up when I went into the Banila Co. store a few years ago and that was exactly what I did.

BanilaCoEyelinerPackaging

The packaging isn’t flimsy, I’ve never had an issue where the cap fell off the eyeliner (which is often the case with many of mine! ><). The only thing I dislike though is that it is non-retractable, which means frequent sharpening! Since it is a creamy eyeliner, this means that it gets blunt very often and sharpening causes a lot of the product to get wasted.

BanilaCoEyelinerHandSwatch

Top: Light swatch; Middle: Harder swatch; Bottom: Smudge test

The eyeliner really does apply easily. It glides over the lids smoothly with no fuss but it can be a little uneven so you may need to go over it a few times. It’s not the blackest black in colour so you might not like it depending on your personal preference. It also sets fairly fast so it’s necessary to blend as you go! On the other hand, applying the eyeliner in the waterline is great. You don’t need to go over the area multiple times to get great pigmentation, just twice is perfect! I definitely prefer it on the waterline but it would also act as a great base for smokey eyes.

BanilaCoEyelinerApplication

Top: Applied as an eyeliner
Bottom: Smudged out as a smokey eye

Honestly, the fact that it needs sharpening throws me off a lot even if it might seem like a minor detail. I dislike sharpening pencils because I’m always nervous that they might break off so you end up wasting a lot of the product. It’s also just more convenient to twist up for more product when you need it. I think there are plenty of better eyeliners in the market! =)
