♡ FOTD: Natural Feminine Pink Look

Another FOTD post today! It was fun writing up the last one so I wanted to do another one! =) Today’s look is more pink toned and I feel that it is a very feminine and pretty look! I’m also using the Naked 3 Palette for the look, which I think is absolutely perfect for people who enjoy wearing pinky shades on the eyes.

I’ve been testing out the Missha M Perfect Cover BB Cream for the past few days and so far I am really loving it but I will be posting up a full review in the coming week or two! My first impression is that it suits my skin tone absolutely perfectly after settling in for a few minutes (I was totally scared it wouldn’t considering BB creams tend to lean on the pale side) and it really does have great coverage. (Full review)

The NARS Virtual Domination Palette was another one of my favourite purchases last year. Although it seems expensive at first, once you break down the prices it is absolutely worth it! It’s also the first NARS product I have ever owned. Sex Fantasy (ugh the raunchy names are a tad awkward haha -_-) is a beautiful soft, cool toned pink shade. I thought it would look weird on my warmer skin but it’s actually really beautiful and looks really natural! =) The highlighter on the other hand is literally specks of glitter and I feel that most people will not like it at all.

Eyebrow game so not on point. =( Haha, I’ve been trying to grow them out, especially near the ends because my eyebrows are uneven but they look so bushy hahaha. I really do love the Anastasia Brow Powder Duo though, it makes it really easy and fast for me to just fill in my eyebrows a little bit in the mornings to make them more symmetrical and put together! I use the lighter shade mostly but if I’m in the mood then I will fill in the ends of my brows with the darker shade.

I used the Naked 3 Palette today and I have been really enjoying it so much. Sometimes it gets a little boring to always use neutral browns in my makeup looks and pink is a nice transition to make it a little more interesting, yet it is also very wearable and pretty. For the look I used:

♡ “Limit” all over the lids using the brush in the palette
♡ “Nooner” in the crease using a fluffy crease brush
♡ “Darkside” in the outer corners and lower lash line using a pencil brush

Review: Missha The Style Silky Shadow Duo in 08 Rose Tree and 13 Natural Heaven

Today’s review is on Missha’s The Style Silky Shadow Duos. They come in a small black pan inside a plastic container. This is probably one of the biggest drawbacks of these eyeshadows. The packaging just seems a bit tacky to me! =( I think the purpose is so you can depot them and put them in a separate palette but for someone like me, I am too lazy to go through that struggle. I was also expecting that they could at least stack up together somehow but they don’t so it’s hard for me to store them neatly. The packaging is also all in Korean so I had to use Google to translate the shade names! =P

MisshaEyeshadowPackaging

MisshaEyeshadowPackaging2

The eyeshadow range is really limited, with a strong focus on neutrals and basics. In fact, a lot of the colours look the same. Even in my pictures, you can barely see a difference. 08 Rose Tree has a pale pink and a medium golden-brown shade, and 13 Natural Heaven has a pale yellow toned brown and a medium purple taupe shade. When swatched on the hands, 08 seems to have greater pigmentation but it is actually in fact harder to blend and apply on the eyes in comparison to 13. Surprisingly, the eyeshadows are soft to the touch and swatch sheer but are both very buildable. I don’t think they are anything spectacular because you need to apply multiple layers for it to show up and it is very powdery, especially when you use softer fluffy brushes.

MisshaEyeshadowApplication

Applied 13 Natural Heaven for a very basic and natural eye look

I don’t absolutely dislike these eyeshadow duos, they are quite decent for the price and I have no major issues with creasing but they are just so small and in dull packaging that I forget I have them! I feel that they are definitely not a must-have and you can skip out on them. There are a lot of better quality eyeshadows with better pigmentation out there in the Korean beauty market!

Review: Jill Stuart Jelly Eye Colour N in 003 Platinum Satin

Jill Stuart has to be my favourite brand in terms of best packaging. Everything is in such angelic and princess-like packaging and is just so pretty to look at and display! Today I will be reviewing the Jelly Eye Colour N, it claims to “bring highly translucent sparkle and clear, popping colour” and “provide perfect coverage on the eyelids, giving long lasting just-applied beauty and feeling of moisture“. They have quite a selection of colours from lighter neutral shades to more pastel and bright colours.

JillStuartGlitterPackaging

The jar is very sturdy and quite deep, which means there is a lot of product inside! The shade I got was 003 Platinum Satin, which is a sheer pink-beige colour. On the eyes though, it tends to show up as a pale silver which I don’t really mind even though I was not expecting it to be that colour. The texture is really interesting, it feels kind of like mousse and is a bit bouncy. It is an absolutely gorgeous glitter that sparkles so beautifully under the light and the swatches below really do not do it justice! You really have to like glitter to enjoy this eye makeup product because it’s out of this world. =)

JillStuartGlitterHandSwatch

The Jelly Eye Colour N can be used on its own or underneath as a base. I sometimes even dab some on top of my eye makeup to add some glam (even though you normally don’t apply creams on top of powders). If I want to wear this for an everyday sort of look, I only need to tab into the product very lightly and there is enough product for both eyes. However, if I’m looking to achieve a more glittery look it is easy to just layer the glitter and build it up. =)

JillStuartGlitterApplication

I don’t have anything negative to say about this product in terms of its performance but it is quite expensive for what it is. I want to pick some more colours up though and I would highly recommend it if you have been hesitant about picking it up, especially if you enjoy glitter!

♡ Haul: eBay Korean Beauty & Skincare Products

I patiently waited over a week for my parcel to arrive and I was so ecstatic when they came! I will be doing reviews on these products after I get a chance to test them out over a few period of time and really give my 100% honest opinion. The person I bought from was cosmeticmarket2012 and I had pleasant experience. The items were shipped very quickly, everything arrived on time and was packaged very carefully! There was also a large handful of free samples added in which is always a great bonus! The purpose for this online shipping trip was to find a new BB cream and a face cleanser to try but of course with every shopping trip, I ended up picking up more items than intended.

I wanted to pick up this particular Missha BB cream because after reading so many reviews, I found that it was one of the better performing and more popular Korean BB creams. It is a cult classic and is one of the few kinds that has a decent colour range. I am always hesitant to purchase BB creams because I have had plenty of experiences where my skin would look fine when I apply it but then I would walk out and look so unnaturally white! After reading countless reviews and swatches, I decided to pick up the shade #23 because it seemed like the best choice for my light-medium skin. I’m so excited to wear this and give you all my thoughts! =)

This gel moisturiser is one of the best selling skincare items and I knew I just had to give it a try because of all the rave. My skin gets really red and irritated after cleansing so I wanted to incorporate a nice moisturiser that will help tone it down as much as possible. I was also under the impression that it will feel really light and comfortable on my skin considering it is so humid here in Australia at the moment so I decided to pick it up!

As you know, I have an obsession with Korean lip products and I’m always looking to try new ones to find my absolute holy grail. What intrigued me about this one is that it is colour changing based on the temperature of your lips, creating a custom colour. I decided to pick up shade #3 because I’ve been really enjoying pink lip shades lately. I’m also very pleased that it’s a twist-up product!

ClioEyeliner

I have heard so many great things about this eyeliner and I was searching for a new brown liquid eyeliner. I have had my Dollywink Liquid Eyeliner in Black for the longest time but I’ve come to realise that I definitely prefer wearing brown on an everyday basis because it looks more natural and softer. I often go through phases where I use gel eyeliners, pencil liners or liquid eyeliners only so it’s nice that I now have a brown liquid eyeliner I can turn to when I’m in the liquid phase! =)

Thank you for reading! I hope you all look forward to seeing my reviews and opinions on these products once I’ve given them a fair trial. Let me know if you’ve tried any of these products and what your experience was like. ♡

Review: Innisfree Longwear Cushion in #23 True Beige

After I saw Pony (from Pony’s Beauty Diary) use this cushion BB cream, I knew I had to get it. Pony is a really famous makeup artist from Korea and she makes great YouTube videos. She is so flawless and her makeup skills are beyond amazing. Go check her out, you’ll definitely enjoy it!

Cushion BB creams are one of the newer form of base products where the liquid/cream is kept under a spongy surface and requires pressure for it to be pushed out. A specially made makeup sponge is used to pick up product so that it can be patted all over the face. There are two cushions by Innisfree, a longwear and a waterglow one. Depending on your skin type and personal preference, you can choose whichever one is more suitable for you. I have oily skin especially in the warmer months so I opted for the longwear cushion. The longwear cushion also offers SPF 50 PA +++, which is really amazing because it is really important to protect your skin from harmful UV rays. There are 3 shades available, and since BB creams tend to run light I picked up the darkest in #23 True Beige.

InnisfreeCushionBBPackaging

Please excuse the state of the sponge, it shows how frustrated I got trying to get product out. ><

InnisfreeCushionBBInsidePackaging

I purchased this last year and was excited to test it out. What disappointed me was that it was really hard for me to get product out as I said before. Although BB cushions are supposed to be a fast alternative to achieve a flawless base, it took way longer than anticipated. I may have picked up a dud or got sent one that was from an older batch but I felt as though there was barely any product inside. It took longer and longer each time I wanted to use the cushion.

InnisfreeCushionBBApplication

From my personal experience, I need at least 2 thin layers to achieve medium coverage. The first layer evens the skin quite well but is a bit patchy. The second layer provides a little more coverage. However, my darker acne scarring spots are still visible as you can see in the application picture. It leaves the skin looking semi-matte, which is ideal for oily girls like me! I found that this BB cushion isn’t great for touch-ups. It tends to highlight oily areas and forms patches, emphasising pores and making the skin look uneven. If you have fairly clear skin already, you may like this cushion BB cream but if you have acne prone skin then you may want something that offers higher coverage or you may want to use concealer on top of certain areas that don’t get completely covered up. I think my skin looks nice in the photo above but when I look close-up into the mirror, I can definitely see that my pores look more prominent than they were from the start.

What I was really impressed by was how well it prevented my face becoming oily. Most foundations/BB creams fail to keep my face matte for the whole day but this cushion BB managed to do so and this was the major plus for this product!

♡ FOTD: Neutral Soft Smokey Eyes (Plus Mini Reviews!)

Hello everyone, hope you all have been doing well! =)

I’m doing a FOTD post because I felt like posting something different. I went for a more casual, natural look today using the Too Faced Chocolate Bar palette as the main focus!

FOTD1Final

Products used:

♡ Rimmel Lasting Finish Foundation SPF 20 in 200 Soft Beige
♡ Mizon BB Snail Repair Cream (Review)
♡ Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Diffused Light
♡ Too Faced Candlelight Glow Highlighting Powder Duo
♡ Etude House Lovely Cookie Blusher in #13 Peach Choux Wafers
♡ Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Powder Duo in Medium Brown
♡ Too Faced Chocolate Bar Palette
♡ Bobbi Brown Long-wear Gel Eye Liner in Sepia Ink
♡ Maybelline The Falsies Mascara
♡ Tony Moly Petite Bunny Gloss Bar in #5 Juicy Peach

⟣ F a c e

I have been running low on my Rimmel Lasting Finish Foundation in 200 Soft Beige so I have been scraping out the remains and mixing it in with my Mizon Snail Repair BB Cream! Surprisingly, I have been really enjoying the combination and with a very light layer, it really helps even out my skin tone! It’s also a better match for my skin because the Rimmel foundation by itself is a tad too dark and can look a little orange when it oxidises throughout the day. I found that by mixing the two, the finish is a lot more natural because it tones down the full coverage matte finish of the Rimmel foundation and makes it look more dewy and fresh.

Hourglass’ Ambient Lighting Powders are phenomenal. Diffused Light is a pale yellow shade that I use almost everyday on top of my foundation as a setting powder to make my skin look more polished and smooth. I highlight suggest you look into them more and find one that will suit your personal needs if you’re searching for new high-end powders. =)

Too Faced Candlelight Highlighter is amazing for a subtle golden glow. I have converted into a highlighter fanatic because of it! I would suggest it for people who have warm undertones because of its golden tone.

➳ I will do a full review on the Etude House Lovely Cookie Blusher hopefully sometime next week! =)

The Too Faced Chocolate Bar Palette was my everyday choice for eyeshadow when I purchased it last year and I’m still really loving it. It is a great neutral and versatile palette that has a wide range of eyeshadows. They are great quality and you can create so many looks with it. For today’s look I applied:

♡ “Salted Caramel” in the crease using a fluffy blending brush
♡ “Amaretto” all over the lids and “Marzipan” on top to add extra shimmer using a standard eye makeup brush
♡ “Semi-sweet” in the outer corners and lower lash line using a pencil brush

The Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner is a cult favourite for many people. It lasts all day and is very pigmented. I have had mine for around 3 years (I don’t know if that’s alright or not o_o) and it’s still going strong. It has not dried up in the slightest and still works as great as it did when I first got it! Sepia Ink is a deep brown colour that is a great alternative to black because it is less harsh and a little more natural looking. Highly recommend!

⟣ L i p s

The Tony Moly gloss bars are so cute! The packaging is shaped like a bunny and each one has a different face on it. However, they require frequent reapplication because they wear off quite fast and do not leave a stain at all. They are advertised as being gloss bars though so I honestly did not have high expectations in terms of its lasting power. The shade I used was #5 Juicy Peach, which is a light warm-toned pinky peach shade. I would only recommend this for people who just adore cute makeup and like collecting it, otherwise I would say you can skip out on them!

Review: Aritaum Honey Melting Tints in Raspberry Cake & Bitter Rose

Haven’t we heard so much about Aritaum’s Honey Melting Tints already? They have become one of the most popular lip tints because of their unique formula. They have a thick consistency and apply like a lipstick but are very moisturising and have amazing pigmentation. Unlike other lip tints, Aritaum’s Honey Melting Tints are a lot thicker and creamier. They have a wide selection of colours, are beautifully scented and are also very affordable!

AritaumHoneyMeltingTintPackaging

All of these lip tints come in a twist off plastic container with the colour of the container being the same as the lip tint, and the shade name printed on the side. I really adore this simple yet chic packaging. If you choose to purchase several shades, you can easily pick out which shade you want to use when you store them!

AritaumHoneyMeltingTintHandSwatch

Bitter Rose is a muted natural pinky brown shade whereas Raspberry Cake is a bright pinkish red shade. In my opinion, Bitter Rose is a perfect Kylie Jenner shade. The lip tints can be sheered out for a natural look or be built up in intensity to enhance the colour and vividness. They are really creamy though so you do have to be careful not to store them in really warm or hot areas because they melt! Also I do have to say that it is necessary to apply lip balm if you have any dry patches. Because the Honey Melting Tints are very thick, they tend to accentuate these areas if you apply them straight onto the lips. I’m not sure about the rest of the collection, but both of the shades I own smell strongly of roses and is quite pleasant. If you do not like the scent, you won’t be bothered by it because it doesn’t linger anyway. =) Overall, I highly recommend this lip tint range. I completely understand why they are so popular!

Review: Missha Tinted Jelly Lips in Happy Pink, Fresh Mango & Swan Pink

I have the biggest obsession with Korean lip products. They’re just so affordable and they have so many to choose from. There are 5 shades in Missha’s Tinted Jelly Lips range and today I will be reviewing 3 of them. Happy Pink is a vibrant raspberry pink-red colour, Fresh Mango is a bright medium orange colour and Swan Pink is a cool-toned pale pink colour. The other 2 shades are Pure Red and Sunny Coral.

MisshaTintedJellyLipsPackaging

The packaging is quite unique. The product comes in a squeeze tube with a brush tip applicator. Normally you find products that are either in a squeeze tube or in a plastic tube and an applicator, but Missha combined both of these into one! It is a little difficult to figure out how much pressure you need to apply at first to get the product and in the first few tries, I had to press quite hard to get any product out at all. I still have trouble getting product out sometimes so I do not really like the packaging much. The brush is nice though, it makes it really easy to apply product evenly and allows you to line your lips perfectly.

MisshaTintedJellyLipsApplication

The product really does make your lips look like jelly, which I quite like! It makes your lips look so moisturised and pouty. It has a glossy consistency, which is different to other standard lip tints that are more watery. Because it is a shiny gloss, it wears off after about an hour without eating/drinking and leaves behind a nicely pigmented tinted sheen. At this point, it does feel a little bit tacky on the lips. After eating and drinking, there is not much of a stain with Swan Pink and Fresh Mango but Happy Pink leaves behind a nice pink stain. Even after I had a shower, I still had a bright pink stain on my lips! This is common for brighter/darker lip tints though and not as common in lighter colours so if you do pick up the lighter shades, you might have to reapply.

MisshaTintedJellyLipsTimeTest

The gloss disappears but the colour is still vivid

The only thing that really lets me down is the packaging. It’s tedious to have to squeeze out the product when it doesn’t always cooperate so it can take quite a long time to get the right amount out.

4. If you had to eat fast food, which joint would it be?
Probably Subway?

5. Where do you see yourself in the future?
Continuing to be a regular blogger and start YouTube! But career wise, becoming a clinical psychologist.

6. What is your go-to nail polish right now?
OPI’s Privacy Please. It’s a translucent pink colour but it makes your hands look really clean and you don’t have to be neat with it. It’s easy to put on and matches with everything! =)

7. What is your go-to hairstyle right now?
I wear my hair down 99% of the time but if my hair isn’t looking too great, then a side braid!

8. What show are you watching?
Currently Pretty Little Liars and Brooklyn Nine-Nine. The other shows I watch are on break right now and I can’t wait for new seasons to start!

9. What is your favorite music genre?

10. Do you have a best friend?
Yes! I love her a lot, we’ve been friends for 10 years. ^^

For my parents, it’s the Mandarin equivalent of “little sister” which is “Mei Mei” hahaha. Otherwise they just call me Jennifer!

I’m a health nut so it’s actually grilled chicken breast in garlic with fresh baby spinach leaves.

I have a lot of movies that I love but one of my favourites is Up! =)

5. What is your every day make-up routine?
It kind of changes everyday but it will always include BB cream, powder, blush, eyeliner, mascara and lipstick/lip tint!

6. How many hours do you spend on your phone?

5. What is your favourite book?
Currently it’s the book I finished reading not long ago, “Blood Bound” by Rachel Vincent.

6. University or life experiences, which do you feel best prepares you for life?
Oh this question is so deep, I love it! Honestly I think life experiences prepares you best. A lot of people with their university degrees end up not even doing things related career wise. Life experiences help build up people’s strengths and really opens their mind to how tough the real world is. That’s what really prepares you for anything, not just some writing on a piece of paper!

7. What are your goals in life?
It’s generic but I just want to be successful! I’m at a point in my life where I’m still unsure 100% of what I want to do. I’ve just set up my career goals because I feel like I have to so I can be working hard towards a goal but really I’m someone that takes life as it goes. I just want to be successful in the end, no matter how long it takes! =)

8. How would you describe yourself?
I think I’m a friendly and kind person. I always make sure that everyone around me is happy and feels safe. I’m really loyal! If you’re my friend, you’re mine and I will take care of you! =)

9. Tell me about your childhood?
I had an amazing childhood. I was an overweight kid hahaha but I felt like I had the world in my hands. I was always really happy and loved playing around with my friends. I had a huge obsession with cartoons/anime, Pokemon was my everything! I would always be playing games, smiling and goofing around! I was also very shy at the time!

10. Give me 3 things always inside your bag.
Phone, keys, wallet!

M a r l e n e

1. We Heart It or Pinterest?
Pinterest! I don’t have We Heart It but I should totally create one!

2. Tea or coffee?

Tea (especially green!), I never drink coffee. =P

3. Favourite movie of all time?

Up!

4. Cats or dogs?
This is hard! I’d have to choose dogs though because I’ve grown up with them! =)

5. Indoors or outdoors?
Probably indoors hehe.

6. Long or short hair?
Long! I’ve spent most of my life with short hair despite looking absolutely horrible with it so I’ll never go back now. =P

7. Sunshine or rain?
Sunshine! =) I like the rain only when I’m inside.

8. Fruit or veges?
Definitely fruit! I love veges but fruits are more satisfying in my opinion.

9. Favourite makeup product?
Ah, I can’t pick one! >< I think I have the most fun playing around with different lip products though.

10. Favourite colour?
No surprises here, it’s pink! =)

⟣ E m w i l l s

1. What is your food heaven and food hell?
Heaven would probably be all healthy nutritious food! Hell would be anything in the ‘weird’ territory like cockroaches, tarantulas or balut etc.

2. Do you have any pets? If so, what are they?
Yes! I have 2 dogs, one is an Australian silky terrier named Rambo and the other is a German shepherd named Viva. I also have a lot of fish!

3. When was the last time you laughed so hard that you cried?
I can’t remember the exact last time because it happens quite often LOL but I would say probably the other day! =P

4. What is/was your favourite school subject?
It was surprisingly Maths. I loved doing Maths!

5. What is/are your beauty essential or essentials?
My absolute essentials are BB cream, blush, mascara and lipstick/tint!

6. Where was the last place you went on holiday/vacation?
It was during Christmas break, I was in Canada, the US and Hong Kong for a total of 16 days!

7. What do you prefer – the city or the countryside?
I’m definitely more of a city girl. I do love to visit the countryside once in a while though!

8. If you could meet any celebrity who would it be?
I really want to meet Adriana Lima to be honest! She has such a cool personality and I’m curious to see how beautiful she is in person! (Does that sound creepy.. it totally does LOL).

9. What is the last book you read?
The last book I read was Blood Bound by Rachel Vincent and I enjoyed it a lot. I thought the entire idea behind the book, its characters and the storyline were fantastic!

10. What 3 items would you want if you were alone on a desert island for a fortnight?
If I could somehow get to food and water supplies then I would bring a video camera to take both videos and photos (I want to vlog my experience and take some memorable pictures!), a gaming console (probably a 3DS with Pokemon hehe) and a Swiss pocket knife (need to be somewhat practical right!). I was considering bringing my laptop but then I realised there’s no wi-fi. =O

C a t s t e l l o

1. What are you currently working towards? (Life goals)
I’m currently working on finishing my degree and then finding a financially stable job (due to transferring uni degrees, I’m still unsure exactly what I want to become!). I also want to start my own business sometime soon to see how that works out for me! =)

2. What’s the story behind your blog title?
I came up with Dorkchops when I was a junior in high school and it became my online alias. Because Dorkchops itself was taken, I added ‘world’ to it because my blog is about all the things I enjoy!

3. If you had to lose one sense which one would it be?
I think hearing! I’m a really visual person so I would definitely want to be able to see. I also think touch is important too. I would be miserable if I couldn’t taste anything and since smell is related to that, I guess that leaves hearing!

4. What’s the one skill you wish you had or are planning to obtain?
Right now, I’m still learning to drive to get my provisional permit! I’m also planning on learning how to program! I think it would be super cool to know how to program some phone apps etc.

5. Who would be in your supergroup? (i.e. pick a lead singer, guitarist, drummer & so on)
This is such a cool question! I honestly don’t listen to that many bands though, mainly solo artists so it’d be too difficult for me to pick out members other than the lead singer! =(

6. Which television character would you like to hang out with the most & why?
Blair Waldorf LOL. I just loved her character in Gossip Girl and I think she would just be absolutely hilarious to hang out with.

7. How hot do you like your Nando’s?
I love spicy food but not too too extreme so just hot!

8. What do you do when you’re upset? How do you change your mood or move past it?
Honestly, I’m someone who bottles up my emotions, which is bad because letting it out actually helps a lot! I usually just do whatever I can to take my mind off things though so listening to music or just going outside to get some fresh air!

9. Which trend would you like to see make a return?
Hm, this is a tough one for me to answer because I’m definitely into more simple looks that aren’t too out there. ><

10. What’s your favourite meal?
I love really classic meals. Some roasted chicken with a side of sweet potato mash and veggies is scrumptious to me! =)
