Hi everyone! Today I bring to you another lifestyle related post to help boost up your self-esteem and help you feel more comfortable in your own skin! This was a list I came across via onlinecounsellingcollege so I have to give the credit to them! I always love sharing tips I stumble upon online because I personally relate to them and always feel a lot more reassured when I read them, so I want to pass it along to all of you guys! =)
1. It starts with a decision to be your own person. Don’t live your life to please or to impress someone else.
2. Try and grasp the fact that we’re different and have different goals and values, and don’t be swayed by other people who criticise your dreams.
3. Don’t compare your path or journey to someone else’s journey as we start from different places and face different challenges.
4. Be kind, understanding and patient with yourself. Accept that failures and mistakes are a part of everybody’s life. Also, choose to frame mistakes as learning opportunities.
5. You need to root for yourself and seek to be your own best friend. Don’t denigrate yourself in public or when you’re alone.
6. Remind yourself that a weakness can become a strength in time. It takes patience and effort but eventually things change!
7. Make a list of what you’re good at and keep adding to the list. Also, note the strengths that others see and comment on as well.
8. Treat yourself with respect and praise the things that you do well. Don’t write them off as “nothing” or as being “no big deal”.
9. Find ways to dissipate and channel negative emotions. Don’t allow them to dictate the way you start to see yourself.
10. Spend time with those who like you and can see your worth and value, and ignore those who attack you and would like to see you fail.
11. Choose to stand up for yourself and value being more assertive. Also, decide to start to set and then enforce appropriate, healthy boundaries.
12. Admit your mistakes – then learn to laugh at yourself. It helps remove the pressure and the stress of “being perfect”!
I really hope that you’ll be able to take these on board with you and make you feel better if you’re struggling with self-esteem or confidence issues, or maybe you’re having a rough day and need a few pick me ups! Either way, let me know if these were useful and I can’t wait to share more tips in my future posts! =) ♡
So true 🙂

Aww, so lovely. I feel like low self esteem is something everyone faces at some point. There are definitely tips that I figured out on my own (Through much time and work) that helped tremendously. Nice to see them all in one place for everyone to enjoy. :))

For sure, it’s definitely completely normal to feel insecure sometimes, we all do! 🙂 It’s so inspiring to know that you’ve figured out ways to boost your own self-esteem! I’m still working on it myself but reading all these different tips shared in different websites online really does help! 😀

Took note of the list of self esteem practices you published, Dorkshops! Appreciate that. I can always do with reading those things. Often call myself stupid. Sometimes I smack my own head if I am mad at myself. Need to quit that!

I had pretty low self-esteem when I was a teenager (a lot of that had to do with not being popular in high school). But once I hit my 20s, all that changed. As I’ve gotten older, my self-esteem and self-confidence have grown ten-fold. I am a LOT bolder and not “shy” now compared to how I was 20 years ago. I finally came to realization of, “Eff everyone else. Just be happy with you however you are.”

That’s so good to hear! 😀 A lot of people definitely hit their lowest point in terms of self esteem during high school! That’s a great mindset to have, life is so much more easier when you just don’t care about what you think!

Excellent topic. I like #5 on your list the best. I do think self esteem is something that comes from valuing yourself at all times. The unique parts of us are what make us stand out in the best ways so I think we should embrace all our qualities and not worry about fitting in. Lovely post and reminder!

Wow!! Love this. I am a firm believer in #6. Sometimes I like to take a minute, think about what some of my own personal weaknesses are, and then formulate a plan to turn those into something better. Love it!!

Your list is great! It touches on a lot of points I’m struggling with, especially since I already have low self-esteem. It’s even worse once I got to college, since my family (esp my mom) keeps talking about my academics to all my relatives when I told her not to. So now, I hate talking to my relatives because they like to jab at my major. I’m a Sociology major in hopes of being a Social Worker. One thing my relatives always do is say… “How are you going to be a social worker if you hate talking? “. Just that one question, and my mood is ruin the whole day.
Sometimes I wish I had high self-esteem that I could easily ignore people’s rude comments/questions. And sometimes I wish my mom didn’t attack me as well because I’m not the child she wants. I’m not like my cousin, a future engineer, nor am I like my other cousin, a future computer programmer. I understand she compares me to make me do better, but in fact she is the one that kills my self-esteem daily and that’s why I can’t have a Mother-Daughter day with her.

Thank you! ❤ I'm so sorry to hear that you have to go through all of that. I've definitely been through that too, being compared to other people is a horrible feeling. I know it's easier said then done but just keep working hard in your studies and you will be successful because no hard work goes unpaid! Then you can show everyone that they were silly to underestimate you in the beginning! 🙂 You can't let anyone stop you from doing what you want to do, even if it is your own family. Surround yourself with positive people who believe in you and will motivate you towards success! ❤ I believe in you and I know that there are so many other people that do too!

I am glad that we agree. 🙂 The part that I need to work on is not being bothered by negative people around me or by someone who has treated me in a negative manner, especially for no good reason. These people usually do not hurt my self-esteem directly, but they sometimes make it difficult for me to focus on the positive aspects of my life.

Yes it’s so hard not to get bothered, negative people are the worst! 😦 I hope it’ll be something you can overcome! It’ll be hard to in an instant but I know you will gradually not let them affect you! 🙂

An interesting post you have here! self esteem is a key ingredient for living a successful life. This is because the way you see yourself has a direct relationship with how far you will go in life.
