Overview: Mascara Collection

MascaraCollection

Hi everyone! I’ve realised that I have several mascaras open at the moment, which is something that used to never happen because I didn’t want them to dry out but I thought it would be the perfect opportunity to go through each one and show before and after pictures so you can see the differences between them! =) I have 5 opened up at the moment and I will be going through each one, showing you how each one works and explaining how they wear on my eyelashes. My lashes naturally are quite long but they point downwards and a factor that I look into on my search for the perfect mascara is that it has to be able to hold the curl throughout the entire day. Because I haven’t been wearing eyeliner everyday, I’ve been going for mascaras that lengthen my lashes and if they do hold the curl, my eyes just look so much bigger, brighter and more awake.

None of these are listed in any particular order. I am going through each one randomly! =)

This mascara is quite popular, I used to hear about it all the time on YouTube back in the day. Unfortunately, I believe it’s no longer sold in retail stores (at least here in Australia?) so you can only purchase it online and through other means now. =( I will review it anyway so that if you do have a chance to pick the mascara up, you can decide whether or not you want to. The claims of this mascara are that it “builds and thickens voluptuous lashes while conditioning them, so they remain supple and healthy” and has “an exceptionally plush brush designed to glide on just the right amount of mascara without clumping or flaking“.

L'OrealVoluminous

This mascara provides fantastic volume and sufficient length. It’s an allrounder great mascara that I think everyone would have a great time using. If you get a chance to pick this one up, I definitely recommend it.

I’ve done a complete review on this mascara already, if you want to see you can click here. I also write about the turquoise shade in the range in that post! But for the purpose of this post, I will still do my brief summary of this mascara just so everything will be in one place! If you wish to read the claims of the mascara, please visit my previous post. =)

L'OrealMissManga

This mascara does a great job at lengthening my lower lashes but it does an ok job with my upper lashes. I feel that it provides more length than it does volume. It also tends to get a bit clumpy when more than one coat is applied. I would recommend this mascara if you’re looking to try out some coloured mascaras because they have a few fun, bright colours in the collection.

MascaraCollection-3

When I signed up for Bellabox, this was a mascara that was sent to me as part of the package and I was really intimidated when I saw the brush. It’s unbelievably massive! The claims of this mascara are that it is “volumising and lengthening“, “has a smudge proof formula that won’t dry or flake“, “is creamy and buildable for extra volume“, “has a silicone brush that helps separate, lift and define the lashes” and a “bomber shaped brush that reaches every lash“.

ModelCoFatLashApplication

I adore this mascara because it hold the curl of my lashes really well. It also just does a fantastic job at both lengthening and providing volume to my upper and lower lashes. The only issue is that it’s really easy to accidentally smudge some of the mascara onto your skin because the brush is really big. If you have shorter lashes that are difficult to reach, this mascara would not be a great choice for you.

MascaraCollection-4

This mascara is the first gel-mousse formulation by Maybelline and its claims are that it “contains 40% less hard waxes for massive yet soft lashes“, has a “patented flexor brush that gently coats every lash with supple volume” and “leaves lashes never brittle or flaky“. Therefore, as the name suggests, it’s not meant to give lashes that leave a hard or ‘crusty’ feeling but keeps them feeling soft!

MaybellineMegaPlush

I do like this mascara because it does what it claims to do! It gives me naturally lengthened lashes and really does make them look like I’m not wearing much makeup because my lashes look soft, not caked on with layers of mascara. If you’re looking for a false lash effect then this mascara would not be a great choice for that purpose.

MascaraCollection-5

I was really excited to try this mascara out when I first purchased it because I’m always searching for the perfect mascara that will give me the look of false lashes. Maybelline describes the mascara as having a “patented spoon brush that fans out lashes from corner-to-corner“, “instantly builds volume without clumping with a pro-keratin formula” and has a “unique flexible wand that helps to lift and separate lashes to provide the look of 300% more visible, fuller lashes with no gaps from any angle“.

MaybellineFalsies

I had the highest expectations for this mascara after reading the name of it but to be honest, it’s just an average mascara. I do like it though because it’s great for when I’m looking to achieve naturally enhanced lashes but it does not give a false lash effect on me. Therefore, if you’re hoping that this mascara will give you the appearance of amplified false lashes, it might not work out for you like it did with me!

Let me know which mascara you think looks best on me and also give me some recommendations on some new mascaras I should be on the lookout for! I hope you enjoyed this post! ♡

I like the sound of the Maybelline Mega Plush and the eyelashes still feeling soft and natural – much better than how gritty and heavy some mascaras get.

I didn’t see that much difference among all of them but I think the Miss Manga looked better! 🙂 I just realized that I have a lot of mascaras that are opened too. I actually have a mascara comparison to finish, which has been sitting in my drafts since January. LOL I seriously need to work on that. I’ve been wanting to try the Miss Manga mascara, and I think I might buy it next time! 🙂 Anyway, thanks for this review Jen!

Yes, I agree! I was looking through the pictures and I was like hmm they all look similar LOL. Haha I have a lot of drafts too! 😛 But definitely try to get it done, I’d love to know what mascaras you’ve been using and which ones are good! 😀 You should try it, a lot of people really really like the Miss Manga! 😀 ❤ You're welcome, thank you for reading hehe.

Great reviews! Like I said before in a post of yours, I love the Miss Manga Mascara. Right now though I am using Maybelline’s Lash Sensational which is sensational! lol and I love Covergirl’s Full Lash Bloom. 🙂 xx

Great review, Dorkchops 🙂 I like the L’Oreal Paris Voluminous carbon black – too bad I never picked one up and too bad they stopped selling it here 😦 The Model Co mascara has a sort-of similar brush end to the Benefit They’re Real but less chunky looking. I didn’t like the brush at first but I’m sort of getting used to it. Have you tried the Tarte Lights, Camera, Lashes mascara? I only have the mini version but that on me looks amazing!! You should definitely go check that one out. Lengthens really well and makes me lashes curl nicely.. But I also like to mix with Covergirl’s Lash Blast waterproof mascara. That mascara gives volume which I like or more of a natural look to it. (Sorry I wrote so much!).

Thank you! 😀 Hehe I know! 😦 I ended up buying it off ‘Catch of the Day’, they seem to have really great deals on there whenever there are beauty sales on! 😀 Oh yeah that’s right, it’s really similar to the They’re Real brush but it definitely looks so much more chunky LOL. I haven’t tried any high end mascaras before! :O :O But I’ve heard that one is really really good! I’ll definitely have a look, I still need to go to the Sephora here. 😛 I haven’t used the Lash Blast in awhile, I miss it! I loved it so much when I had it. And it’s ok hehe I like long comments! 😛

Speaking of, Sephora! I haven’t been there yet… Still contemplating to travel to the city to go see Sephora lol. I’ve read good and bad reviews, but I won’t know until I go myself. I’ve been receiving emails about UD being released next week though.. So maybe some time next week would be a good time or I’ll wait until the hype goes down a little and there’s less people!

Yes! LOL it is a bit of a trek and I’ve heard it’s not that great but it carries some brands you can’t really find anywhere else so I’m curious to have a look anyway! 😛 I was disappointed to hear the prices aren’t great at all. -_- Omg yeah UD is coming to Mecca! Finally! 😛 Curious to see the prices too for UD! It’ll probably be as crazy as all makeup here though LOL. But yes, Sephora should definitely be chill by now! Not sure what’s going to happen when UD opens! D:

There’s a Mecca sort-of near where I live, about 30 minutes drive. The last time I visited Mecca store was a year or so ago.. And the last time I went to a Sephora store was earlier this year on my US trip my goodness we were in there for more than an hour.. Haha ;D yeah who knows.. I think Mecca is having better luck with customers than Sephora. If only it was cheaper in both stores – then we’d be broke!

Oh that’s not too bad! 😀 Same here, I haven’t gone into Mecca for the longest time. I’ve only ever picked up my Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder from there and that was the last of it. 😛 Omg I know, when I was in Sephora in Canada I spent the longest time looking at everything! I only walked out with 2 things though LOL. I couldn’t decide what I wanted and I didn’t want to spend too much. D: I know, if it was cheaper I would be sooo broke!

Ah, the Falsies! One of my mascaras of choice (apart from Maybelline’s Magnum). I’m quite curious about the Model Co one. It looks like it gives great volume.

Great overview! Mascaras are soo tricky. Everyone has different tastes! I was surprised with what the Manga mascara looked like on you, it looked great! Every other pictures I’ve seen have looked way more clumpier than I find desirable. Maybe I’ll give it a shot? lol

Thank you Nadine! 😀 I know, everyone’s always looking for different things! Thank you so much, everyone seems to like that one on me hehe. Yes, it definitely can get clumpy if you apply too much! Or normally that tends to happen when you first open a tube and you need to give it time to dry up a tad bit! 😛 But give it a shot! 😀 They have some coloured ones in the range too, which are super fun!

L’Oreal’s Voluminous mascara used to be a fave of mine, along with their Double Extend mascara. I think they make some amazing products. I currently use Julep’s Length Matters mascara and I absolutely love it. I wasn’t sure about it at first because I prefer a thick, full brush and this one is far from that, but so far so good! Love this post, lady!!! 👍👍😊

Oh sounds amazing! I haven’t tried any other L’Oreal mascaras other than the ones I’ve mentioned so I would love to try that one out! 😀 I’ve also never tried Julep before either, I’m not sure if I can purchase the brand in stores where I live so I’d have to look online! I think I prefer fuller brushes too, I feel that they provide more volume! 🙂 Thank you so much for the comment and recommendations! ❤ ❤

Great review! Couldn’t agree more with your Miss Manga review – it’s spot on! It’s perfect for one coat on the bottom lashes (I use the waterproof formula). For top lashes, right now, I’m loving Cover Girl’s Bombshell mascara – it has a lengthening brush on one end, and a thickening one on the other – best of both worlds!

Thank you! 😀 Haha I’m definitely amazed with how it works on the lower lashes but that’s a good idea, I never seem to mix my mascaras so I should try that out! 😀 I’ve never tried the Bombshell mascara either! :O I’ll look into it when I next go shopping hehe. ❤

The ModelCo looks like the winner to me! 🙂 My very favorite mascara is DiorShow Waterproof…after using it for awhile, I now hate all my former favorites. I’m always willing to try new ones, but for now DiorShow is the reigning champion ❤

It’s sooo nice. But you’ll never want to go back to anything else! It’s too bad you can’t really get samples of mascaras at beauty counters like you can with skincare products, etc…

Hahaha I’m so scared for that to happen because it’s so pricey! 😦 Yes I know! I don’t even know if I can get samples at all here but I’ve never asked or seen anyone else get any before! :O I wish I could trial the mascara or something!

I’ve got to say, I have tried so many expensive mascaras over the years-guess once I cleaned out my stuff and threw away over 25! I keep going back to Maybelline’s Great Lash. All my life other girls ask me what mascara I use. It just works for me:) All the other are packaged so beautifully-it’s a shame!

I’m a firm believer in Falsies, so my vote goes to that. Unfortunately, half the stuff on your list aren’t available where I am (except for the black market, maybe), but I wish I could try the others. I know it’s fun to put mascara on and just marvel at how instantly lush the lashes become.

I hope you like it, it’s one of my faves ^_^. I don’t use a lot of rimmel, but I swear by their mascara. Lol make up can be pricey, my eyeshadow pallets were 54/pallet and I bought two from that brand. Enjoy and thanks for sharing, it’s hard to find good makeup and trial and error gets pricey.

The Maybelline Falsies Express one is my favourite on you. My absolute favourite mascara is the Maybelline Colossal Smokey Eyes Mascara. I have tried high end mascaras and still always go back to this one. I recommend it to so many people. Check that one out if you get chance 🙂 x
