Autumn Fashion Essentials ♔

March is the beginning of Autumn/Fall in Australia so I wanted to do a post on some essential items that I think will help transition into the new season! =) This is my first official fashion post! As university has started, I plan to do some occasional OOTDs and I hope you all look forward to them. Just a quick note, I don’t always stick to traditional autumnal colours and I just wear whatever will keep me warm and comfortable for this season!

Autumn2015Sweaters

I am someone who turns to sweaters to keep warm but for convenience too. They are easy to throw on and if it gets a little warm you can just roll your sleeves up! There are also so many different materials to choose from so some don’t require layering at all. If one is a little on the thin side, I like to layer a long sleeved shirt underneath. A particular style that I am completely obsessed with right now is wearing a collared blouse underneath. I find thick sweaters really comfortable and are perfect for those lazy days where you don’t have the time or just aren’t bothered to dress up!

Autumn2015LongSleeves

Right during the transition, the weather is still generally warm but may be windy at the same time so a standard long sleeved top will be perfect to wear on its own. A plain one may seem a bit boring to wear alone so I like to play around with layers and patterns. I really enjoy collars on my shirts, I find them to be so adorable but elegant and chic at the same time! =)

Autumn2015Outerwear

If I’m not wearing a sweater then I’ll be wearing a thinner plain long sleeved top with a thicker knit cardigan or jacket. In my opinion, like a statement fashion jewellery piece, a nicely fitted jacket can pull an entire look together and make it look more fancy. There are such a wide range of styles and materials to choose from. I personally enjoy oversized knit cardigans, they look so effortless but are so comfortable to wear! I think they’re perfect for casual occasions.

Autumn2015Pants

More often than not, I’m wearing skinny jeans or leggings. You can never go wrong with either during the colder months! They match absolutely everything. Because my tops are usually quite feminine, I like to keep my denim a bit more edgier with some distress and tears in them. I also find that darker washes look the best during this time of year.

Autumn2015Shoes

For me, a classic black ankle boot is a must! I wear them religiously during the colder months because I know they are comfortable but will keep my feet dry in case it starts to rain! They also match and look great with absolutely anything. I wear them 99% of the time during the autumn and winter. When it comes to metals, I always prefer gold because I think it looks more chic with black leather!

Autumn2015Scarves

Scarves are a great way to accessorise on chilly days while also providing sufficient warmth! I think they can be a way to add a pop of colour to an outfit if everything else is kept simple. Having a small variety of scarves to rotate around is a must in my opinion! =) My absolute favourites are chunky infinity scarves, I don’t personally gravitate towards scarves that are on the thin side.

I know that a lot of you guys are from the Northern hemisphere and are going into spring but I still hope you enjoyed my first official fashion post! ♡ Let me know what your essentials are and if you think I’m missing any important pieces hehe.

Loved this! A good jacket is key for me during the colder months. I have a couple that are cute, warm, AND work with most outfits. I wouldn’t know what to do without them!
Can’t wait to start seeing OOTDs!

Love your post Jen. 🙂 ❤ Trench coats, sweaters, heeled booties, and scarves are my faves to wear during the fall/winter season. Though winter is almost over here in California so I'm really super excited for spring. I can finally start wearing dresses, skirts, and shorts again. haha

I’ve always loved autumn fashion, so I’m excited to see you do the OOTDs. Maybe, I could live vicariously through you as it’s always too hot to wear it here in the Philippines. The lace-up boot made me melt, as did the jeweled jumper. Hahaha!

Also, I miss Aussie autumn (I lived in Brissy for a bit.)

Hehe thank you! ❤ I'll start doing them once it gets colder, it's in the awkward transition phase right now so it's still really really hot. 😛 😛 Aw I would love to live in the Philippines, I adore warmer weather! 😀 I love those boots too! ❤ I'm in need of some more booties LOL. That's amazing, Brissy is incredible! I haven't visited in the longest time though. 😦

I hate the heat! I have always been a cool weather person. I once went around Baguio (a rather cool area here) and it was nine degrees….in a sleeveless top. Hahaha! I love the cold. Also, the heat makes my skin break out in a rash.

I haven’t been back in a while too. Last time I was there was around eight years ago!

We should swap hehehe! 😀 Wow I wouldn’t be able to handle being sleeveless in 9 degree weather! :O Thankfully the trek to uni makes it a lot warmer than it actually is when it’s cold LOL. Aw no, rashes are horrible! 😦 Wow that was so long ago, you should totally come visit again!

We have very similar tastes in clothing. I always, even in summer (especially when the office tends to get really, really cold because the air conditioner’s a crutch), try to wear sweaters or cardigans with collared shirts underneath. I’ve never really tried the “portable” or “detachable” collars, but I have several flannel and striped shirts that I like to wear with sweaters.

Also, I studied psychology in college as well. 🙂 Can’t wait to see more of what you have to share with us!

Yay, so happy to hear we have similar fashion taste! 😀 I’m completely obsessed with that look! It’s the only reason why I’m looking forward for it to be a little cooler LOL. It’s still hot because of the seasons transitioning. 😦 I haven’t tried the detachable collars either but I’m curious to try it out! 😀 Awesome hehe, it seems like psychology is a really popular choice! Thank you so much, I hope you’ll enjoy all my future posts! ❤

Great post Jen! I’m also very much a leggings and skinny jeans girl haha. Knit sweaters and scarves are absolute essentials in my autumn/winter wardrobe! Just have to make sure I don’t end up wearing knit sweaters and knit scarves together hehe. I love the part of autumn when it is not too cold yet to wear skirts and semi sheer stockings and a nice knit sweater on top 🙂
    Looking forward to OOTD posts!

Thank you Soph! 😀 Haha they’re just so convenient! Definitely, a knit sweater and a knit scarf together would be too overkill! 😛 Hehe I love that look too! 😀 I like to be able to wear stockings with skirts or shorts while it’s not too cold yet! Thank you so much, I look forward to posting them in the near future hehe. ❤

Ah that’s so cold! The lowest it ever really gets where I live is about 10 degrees Celsius (I’m not sure about the conversion! :P) and that’s considered very very cold here. Thank you so much, I look forward to posting more! 😀

Thank you! Hehe I definitely will on the days where I make an effort to look nice LOL (or when I’m actually going out hehe). Since it’s first week of uni, I’ve been kind of throwing anything on. 😛 I’m a bit excited too, hoping it won’t be raining too much though! I don’t like being out and about when it’s raining!
I know right? I was in Canada and the coldness here just doesn’t compare at all LOL.

Thank you for liking “Shelf Clouds,” “Shadow Show,” and “Glory of the Grass.” Nice post! 🙂 I like wearing ankle boots too. They look good and keep your feet warm during cold weather. Whenever I can, I buy boots that are specifically labeled or described as “waterproof” in order to make sure that they will actually keep my feet dry during wet weather.
