My Hair Journey & Hair Care Routine ♡

HairJourney&HairCare

My hair has gone through so much over the past few years since I first dyed it at the end of 2012 in Korea. Following that, I was addicted to testing out new hair colours because it was just so fun! But of course, colouring your hair is severely damaging and costly. It is also too exhausting to have to dye your hair so often because of regrowth! So it was then that I randomly stumbled across the concept of balayage, which is a French styling ombre technique. I had been eyeing a hairdresser called Amaya’s instagram (Hair by Amaya) for the longest time and I was in love with her work! I knew it was finally time to end my hair troubles and just get a balayage done because it meant I would be able to leave my hair to grow out without having to constantly re-dye my roots. =) I wanted it to be one of my last colouring trips for a long long time!

My hair was so uneven and patchy from box dyes, I didn’t even realise how bad it looked from the back but I am really happy with the entire experience! My hair has been growing out for a while now and I have no issues with regrowth or anything! It’s the absolute best decision I’ve made for my hair.

I’m now taking care of my hair as well as I can because no-one wants dry, damaged hair! I try to wash my hair as infrequently as I can but normally that equates to about every 2 or 3 days because I do have quite an oily scalp. I very rarely use hot tools on my hair, just because it literally takes me an hour to do and I let it air dry everyday after I wash it. =)

TresemmeShampoo

This is the shampoo I use mainly on my roots and the top half of my hair. I don’t have any issues with it, I feel that it has helped my dry scalp a lot and it smells really nice just like other hair products released by Tresemme!

Because of my natural Asian jet black hair, any sort of hair dye without bleaching first can turn it brassy or look a little orange. Occasionally, I will use this particular toning shampoo on the parts of my hair that have been balayaged so that I can neutralise any orange tones. I feel that it tones it down a little but because I dyed my hair a light golden brown rather than an ashier shade, there is only so much it can do. This toning shampoo is a tad bit drying so a nice moisturising conditioner is necessary to follow up with but overall I am pleased nevertheless! =)

MacadamiaDeepRepairMasque

I was hooked on this stuff since the first use. It leaves my hair feeling so nourished and soft. I like to apply it to the bottom half of my hair and brush it through with a wide-toothed comb in the shower then wash it off after approximately 5 minutes. The only issue is that I feel that it is quite expensive and I go through tubs of it fairly quickly so I try to be careful with it and not use too much product!

MacadamiaLeaveIn

If I’m in a pampering mood, I like to apply one or two pumps of this and spread it evenly onto the ends of my hair. It leaves my hair feeling extra soft and smelling heavenly!

Your stylist did a beautiful job! Balayage is one of my favorite techniques as well for the low maintenance and natural look. I wish more of my clients would grab a toning shampoo from my recommendation – it really makes such a difference to keep your hair from looking brassy.

Thank you so much! 🙂 I know, it’s so low maintenance I love it so much because of that! Toning shampoo really does help so much! Do you have any specific recommendations? The one I mentioned is the first one I’ve tried and I’m open to trying other ones! 🙂 ❤

Your hair is gorgeous! I love Macadamia products too, but I agree that they can get pricey. If you have a TJ Maxx near you, try going there. I’ve found Macadamia products there before for way cheaper!

Your hair is so lovely! I’ve always wished for hair like that! My personal favourite hair product is the Kendra platinum blow dry spray! It’s done wonders for my hair and smells amazing if you like beachy scents! Their whole line is really worth the money! -The Fairest
